This is one of the better essays of the day and the comments are interesting and worth a read as well. Hate speech legislation, the thought police, and similar efforts of activist groups are a serious situation. Read about what's happening in this regard in England and Canada (as their culture goes, so goes ours in time) and you'll get an idea of just how serious the threat to freedom of speech and freedom of conscience is. People have gone to jail and/or been heavily fined for writing anything slightly critical of Islam or homosexuals. Check out the Alliance Defense Fund and lifesitenews for just two providers of news in the Culture War taking place in the US and around the world.
And here's another article pointing out that "freedom of speech" is on the road to obscurity. The writer cites a couple of cases on college campuses where unless you're speaking the "accepted speech" you'd best keep quiet!
